You can grow your own transplants from seed; it’s an inexpensive way to try out unusual or heirloom varieties. join us Saturday, March 16th, 10:30-noon at Bluseed Studios for a seed starting workshop. The workshop will cover
- planting medium
- hardening off
and other aspects of starting and growing seedlings indoors. Participants will take home pots planted with heirloom seeds. In addition, there will be a demonstration of how to build a stand for a 4′ worklight, with kits available for purchase.

Common Ground Garden is holding its winter get-together and annual meeting on Sunday, March 3rd, from 5-7 pm in the Cantwell room of the Saranac Lake Free Library. Featured speaker Dana Fast will share her observations of the effects of climate change on gardening in the Adirondacks. There will be a presentation on the garden’s projects and on reserving a plot for 2013. We welcome gardeners (and non-gardeners) of all levels. Please bring a dish to share.
